At the previous meeting in May, Seegene presented its screening product for clarithromycin-resistantHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori), Seeplex® H.pylori-ClaR ACE Detection.

Clarithromycin is one of commonly using for H.pylori infections, and those mutatedH. pylori bacteria have beena serious obstacle to the treatment of H. pyloriinfections using clarithromycin.

Seegene’s Seeplex® H.pylori-ClaR ACE Detection simultaneously identifies H. pylori and two point mutations (A2143G & A2142G) which cause clarithromycin resistance using PCR, before prescript antibiotics for the patient. Also, as this PCR method is much more sensitive than other screening methods and it event allows for a relatively simple testing procedure.

From last August in this year, the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced that PCR testing for mutated and antibiotic-resistant H. pylorias eligible for health insurance coverage. As a result, those who required to take an accurate antibiotic-resistant H. pylori test are now can receive the necessary tests at a much more affordable price.
